Handstand classes

The following four basic components are present:

Shape

Are your hands positioned correctly? Are your shoulders in the correct position above your hands? Are your hips above your shoulders? Is the back and chest between the hips and shoulders? We may discover that flexibility is missing. Together we will look for the right exercises to get the shape you want.

Balance

When you stand upright, your feet do most of the work for your balance. When we stand on our hands we want the hands to take over the balance. It takes time to teach your body which part is allowed to balance and which parts to deactivate. We are looking for a calm handstand balance that requires a little amount of energy.

Strength

Our body is not used to being upside down. Instead of legs carrying our body, it is now the arms that will do it. If you want to maintain balance independently in the free space (without a wall), we will have to ensure strong hands, wrists and shoulders. There are several exercises that contribute to this and make you strong enough to carry your body upside down.

Route

When you have mastered the skills of shape, strength and balance, you can stand in a handstand! But if you want to stand in free space, the route in and out is just as important. Practicing the route involves energy, direction and body controll. Where are you moving and how fast is that? I have tips to practice your route step by step.

Guidance towards autonomous training

In the handstand classes I take a look at your handstandshape, we work with your strength and make you stronger, we practice the route and balance. Step by step I will give you exercises to help you grow in all aspects. This gives you all the skills to start your autonomous handstand trainingand learn the handstand.
